Description

Ribeiro Dutu Lankawa

In the sixteenth century, Portuguese national João Ribeiro arrived in Sri Lanka at the age of 19. He spent 18 years fighting alongside Sri Lankan kings, recording his experiences, and describing the social, economic, and cultural background of the time. "Ribeiro Dutu Lankawa" was originally written in Portuguese and translated into English in 1909 by P.E. Pieris. The present edition is by Rathnayake Thilakarathna and published by Sooriya Publisher.

දාසය වන ශත වර්ෂයේදී, පෘතුගීසි ජාතික ජෝවෝ රිබෙයිරෝ 19 වැනි වියේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට පැමිණියේය. ඔහු ට වසර 18ක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රජවරුන් හා සටන් කළ අතර, සිය අත්දැකීම්, එකල සමාජ, ආර්ථික හා සංස්කෘතික පසුබිම සහ දේශපාලන තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව ‘රිබෙයිරෝ දුටු ලංකාව’ නම් ග්‍රන්ථය රචනා කර තිබෙනවා. ඔහු සිය මහලු විය ලිස්බනයේ ගතකරන විට මෙම පරිච්ඡේදයන් රචනා කළේය.

මෙම ග්‍රන්ථය මුල්වරට 1909 දී විද්වතුන් වන පී.ඊ.පීරිස් මහතා විසින් ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂාවට පරිවර්තනය කරන ලදි. වර්තමානයේ ඒ ග්‍රන්ථය රත්නායක තිලකරත්න මහතාගේ සංස්කරණය සහ සූරිය ප්‍රකාශකයෝ විසින් මුද්‍රණය කරයි.
